As a guide, the BCDC1240D is used for battery bank sizes over 200AH. 

For smaller batteries of 75-200AH REDARC recommends the BCDC1225D. 
 

The REDARC BCDC1240D is a high-performance 12V 40A DC to DC battery charger designed for installation in the engine bay. Its potted design ensures resilience against heat, water, and dust, making it ideal for tough conditions.

This charger features a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) solar regulator, allowing it to charge from both solar panels and the alternator simultaneously. The integrated 'Green Power Priority' ensures that solar charging is prioritised, reducing the strain on the alternator.

Versatile Compatibility

The BCDC1240D is suitable for both 12V and 24V vehicle systems and works with standard as well as variable/smart alternators. It includes REDARC's patented charging profiles, along with a new lithium charging profile, making it perfect for REDARC Lithium batteries. Additionally, it can charge AGM, GEL, standard lead-acid, and calcium batteries.

Ideal Applications

For optimal use, the BCDC1240D is recommended for lead-acid battery banks exceeding 200Ah and lithium batteries over 100Ah. Always consult your battery manufacturer's specifications to ensure the charger's 'Continuous Current Rating' does not surpass the recommended maximum charging current. For smaller battery banks, consider the BCDC1225D.
